This is the million dollar question isn't it? I have been asked this question more times than I'd care to count. "Sarah what supplements should I be taking to lose weight?" My answer is always the same. How is your nutrition and do you exercise regularly?
I myself do not take any supplements at all apart from the odd vegan protein powder I try to stay well clear of it. I’ve had my own bad experiences with pre-workout and fat burners than I’d like to share also.
When it comes to weight loss and being healthy you really need to get back to the basics. Which is eating good quality food and moving more. There really is no supplement, fat burner or pre-workout that is a magic powder that will make you lose weight overnight. You are really wasting your time and your money on this stuff.
If the goal is to become healthier, decrease stress levels and lose weight in the long run these chemicals will do none of that. I say chemicals because that is exactly what most of these powders are, chemical cocktails. A recent study made by the food safety authorities found that the ingredients in some pre-workout powders resembled the chemical makeup and had the same effects of amphetamines mind you these ingredients had never been tested on humans. So you are loading your liver up with these toxic chemicals all on your journey to become healthier... See where it just doesn’t make sense?
There are many side effects to these types of supplements. Below I have listed some I have experienced myself and also clients have experienced but certainly not limited to;
Anxiety which I experienced myself severely. I had never experienced anxiety/panic attacks before in my life before I took fat burners and pre-workout.
Tingling in the arms and legs. That in itself is not a good sign.
Unable to sleep properly.
Being paralysed through the neck and shoulders unable to move.
Just that small list alone is more than enough to put me off for life and it has. Guys you don’t need these chemical powders they are just no good for you. All this does is creates extra stress for your body to deal with and when you are trying to lose weight if you have read myartcle on stress here you will knowstress will sabotage your efforts no matter how much of this crap you are taking.
So you need a little pick me up before training try drinking coffee or you could try an all natural pre-workout tea from my good friends atwww.amazetea.com they have an amazing product on the market and the only one I would recommend. Use my code word “LittleFitMiss” to get your discount.
If a fat burner is what you are after to help increase fat burn there are many foods that you can start including in your diet such as chilli, capsicum and cayenne pepper all natural and with no nasty side effects much better choice for so many reasons.
Start thinking about what you are actually putting in your body. If it is manmade chances are there will be some form of side effect which may not affect you straight away but in terms of long term transformation and health you should be thinking about longevity rather than quick fixes.
