Since Sundays are the only morning I have off during the week I like to make it fabulous and relaxing. I always start with a coffee from my favorite local coffee shop and a long stroll along the water.
I also either go out for breakfast or pop into the store to pick up a few things to whip up something yummy. Sunday I popped into a local shop to grab some things for the week and on the stand was a really nice looking loaf of bread with the sign "healthy loaf"
I asked the shop assistant what were the ingredients in the bread and he said "white flour" I said "no worries, thank you" he then said "oh but it has lots of seeds and grains in it" I still said no thank you.
White flour means it's white bread and I don't do white bread. Even though it had plenty of seeds and grains in it still makes it white bread. White bread is not the best choice when it comes to bread IF you are going to eat it at all. The rule of thumb I always tell my clients is the darker the better.
No matter how many seeds, grains and olives you put in the bread, if it is white bread, its still white bread.
So why is white bread so bad? I like to use a little analogy to help you understand a little better.
Clag glue. If anyone remembers what that is, we would use in primary school. It was great for making paper mache as the formula would go on so thick and dry so hard.
The two main ingredients of clag glue are; water and flour
The two main ingredients of white bread are; water and flour
Now think about that same cement like action with the paper mache is happening inside your body every time you eat white carbs. That glue like substance formed from eating white carbs sticks to the walls of your bowels literally sucking the life out of you.
Poor digestion and poor gut health will cause you to bloat and put on weight specifically around the stomach area.
So just stick with the dark bread, don't be distracted by the sesame seeds, olives, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds or flax seeds. If it's in white bread forget it but if its in brown bread you've made a fabulous choice.
