Did you know that skipping meals will NOT make you lose weight?
Did you know that eating less is not necessarily the key to losing weight either?
When clients first come to me and we assess what's going on in their life contributing to
their weight gain. Usually it's not the fact that they are eating way to much food it's usually that they
are under eating AND eating the wrong foods and overeating at the WRONG time.
It seems so counterintuitive doesn't when what I'm telling you is that you need to eat more
to weight less and that you are probably NOT eating enough.
It's strummed into us at such a young age for some reason that we need to starve ourselves
and "diet" in order to lose weight. That is just not the case at all.
I remember what it's like to really "diet". Its awful. You constantly feel hungry, moody AND
can't wait to eat properly again (once you get down to the dress size you want of course)
I want you to take a moment and I want you to imagine your favourite car. Your dream car.
You now own this car.
Imagine driving it. How good the engine sounds. How cool you look. How many chicks you pick up now.
How shiny and clean the car is. You are on a road trip and all of a sudden the fuel light comes on. So what do you do?
Well DERRRRRR!!! you go to the fuel station and you fuel up of course. What happens if you didn't
fuel up and keep driving? You would stuff the engine, I would say and then break down.
So why does it make more sense to us to refuel our car when it needs it then to eat regularly to
fuel our bodies for energy?
Our bodies are just like your dream lamborghini, only you only get one body. There is no way you
would forget to fill up your car.
We NEED fuel to function. Food is our fuel. One function of the body is fat burn. Without enough fuel our
bodies go into starvation mode (survival mode) and guess what happens? You will store your food and you
will store it around the stomach area, making you gain more weight. You will also at the same time slow
down your metabolism making it even harder to lose weight.
Why are you starving yourself all day and then having your biggest meal at night?
Remember food is our energy. So doesn't it make more sense to eat your biggest meal
at least at the start of the day? Doesn't it make sense to continually fuel your body throughout
the day with smaller meals but more of them so you can have sustained energy?
What happens to a fire when you just dump a huge log on? It goes out.
What happens though when you put smaller bits of wood on it continuosly? It continues to burn all the way
through the night.
Keep that metabolism fired up and stop putting it out with huge meals and irregular eating.
Food is fuel. Remember that.
